Amsterdam, 18 September
2009 – Dutch MP Kees Vendrik of the environmentalist party GroenLinks has joined the jury of the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge 2009.

Dutch TV presenter Beau van Erven Dorens will host the Award Ceremony of the competition for emissions-reducing inventions on Friday 25 September.

Vendrik has sat in the Dutch House of Representatives since 1998 and serves as his faction's environment spokesperson. "My most important task is to keep showing that our great ecological and social ambitions are achievable and affordable," he says. His fellow jurors are Liesbeth van Tongeren of Greenpeace; Niklas Zennström of Kazaa, Skype and Joost; Bas Verhart of Media Republic and PICNIC; and Jim Walker of The Climate Group.

Van Erven Dorens hosts the game show Hole in the Wall and the news programme CQC.

Six finalists will pitch their ideas to the jury the day before the Award Ceremony as they vie for the €500,000 prize. The Green Challenge 2009 event takes place at the PICNIC media and technology conference, held at Amsterdam's Westergasfabriek.

Each year, the Postcode Lottery invites creative, innovative people all over the world to join the fight against climate change by entering the Green Challenge. The contest is open to anyone with an idea for a user-friendly emissions-reducing product or service.
